Post subject: Mercury 3.9 Impeller

Replacing an impeller on an older 3.9 hp Merc. With the lower unit off and the prop facing me, does the shaft turn clockwise or counterclockwise? I need this info so I can get the impeller in the right direction.

  Looking down (from the engine end of the shaft) it turns clockwise.

Looking down on the top of the flywheel, it turns clockwise.

Even if you get the impeller installed incorrectly, after one revolution it
will be correct.

Impeller help needed - I'm trying to remove the impeller from a very old (ca. 1965) Merc 110 (9.8 hp). I got the lower unit removed without incident and took the top off the water pump. The Seloc shop manual I have says that the impeller can be pried off with a screw driver....
