Post subject: help finding an ignition coil
Archived from groups: rec>boats (more info?)

I have an old Sears 7 HP outboard Ted Williams made by ESKA model #
217-59440. It had been running great and then just died. There is no
spark, it is a solid state ignition system. I checked the resistance in the
coil and it has an open circuit. I am looking to find a coil for this motor
and cannot find a replacement for it. I have checked the Sears web site and
a few others with no success. I am wondering if you can swap this coil for
a different one from another outboard or small engine? I was figuring since
it is just a transformer there should be similar ones on other motors?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott
