Post subject: First time boat buyer

Hi,
I am seriously looking into buying a used fiberglass boat between 16' and 18' but don't know which direction to go. My price range is from 2000 to 6000 dollars. Was previously looking at bayliner capri's due to there availability and price, but have since decided to go a new direction because a few people have told me bayliner's are junk. Any suggestions, questions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Not sure if this reply is too late but...

There are some real cracking fiber glass boats out there, but there are also some bad ones and bad sellers to go with them! The old saying is of "You get what you pay for" is true. I've seen fiber glass boats that are in bad shape but have had cracks and dents painted over to try and trick people into buying them. On the other hand the Bayliner are great boats! Try not to get the cheapest you can as they don't age the best, you may end up paying more in repairs, sea tows etc.. $6000 should get you in the good quality range, remember to check it out thoroughly before buying!!

Good luck!
